Always great to be back in NYC and what better way to start the day than a coffee on the fire escape?
Like most major cities, New York doesn’t fully open up to you on the first visit as you rush around trying to take in all the sights, sounds and tastes. Rather, it’s only once you return and already have that initial understanding of the city both geographically and culturally that the you’re free to wander around and take your time to simply take it all in.
Though I’m only here for a quick visit this time, I haven’t made any particular plans other trying to revisit a couple of places that I usually stop by. A proper brew at Stumptown Coffee in Greenwich Village to fuel my relentless walking, followed by a burger and string fries at The Spotted Pig in the West village and a stop by The Armoury to simply drool all over their fantastic inventory stocked with such (someday-I’ll-be-able-to-afford) delights as Ring Jacket and Carmina shoes.
After sunset, I make way to the Bowery to work up an appetite by browsing more menswear at Freemans Sporting Club and once my stomach gives me the cue, I simply head down the adjacent alley towards the awaiting string of lights at the Freemans restaurant for a healthy portion of the excellent artichoke dip followed by plenty of meat.
New York, you treat me well.
